LLMrefs Alternative
LLMrefs measures how often AI answers name you, across 11 engines, for $79 a month (as of Nov 3, 2026). It even lists Reddit threads you should join, then leaves the commenting to you. SlopMog finds the threads, drafts the comment and posts it, from $99 a month.
- Pick SlopMog if…
- you want comments in the threads AI answers lean on: found daily and by asking 4 AI models, drafted in each thread's tone, posted for you on Reddit and YouTube.
- Pick LLMrefs if…
- you need to measure AI visibility: share of voice across 11 engines, weekly reports, 50+ countries, unlimited seats and an API, for $79 a month.1
- The math
- $79 a month there tracks 500 prompts and posts no comments. $99 here posts about 166 regular comments and tracks no AI mentions (that starts on Make Waves, $249). They do different jobs.
LLMrefs All in One, billed monthly and marked “Limited time only”, checked Nov 3, 20261. SlopMog Test the Waters: 1,000 credits, 6 per regular comment ($0.60).
Where LLMrefs stops and SlopMog starts
LLMrefs measures the answers. SlopMog works on what the answers read. Here's who does which step.
LLMrefs answers “are we in the answer?” across 11 engines, and its citation tracking shows which pages and threads each answer leans on1. Its free Reddit Threads Finder goes a step further and lists threads “you should be joining in”2.
Joining one is the part no dashboard does: a comment that helps the person asking, posted without reading like an ad, then checked again later. That's SlopMog's job. For why threads matter at all, engine by engine, read how to get recommended by ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. If you'd rather swap LLMrefs for another tracker, the guide to tracking brand mentions in ChatGPT compares them with dated prices.

LLMrefs: the good and the meh
We could pretend they're terrible. They're not. Every point links to where we read it.
What LLMrefs does well
- 11 AI engines on one plan, "with no additional fees"1
- Share of voice and position aggregated across prompts per keyword, so one odd answer doesn't skew the score1
- Every source URL the engines cite, filterable, which is where its "outreach opportunities" come from1
- Geo-targeting in 50+ countries and 20+ languages (the plan list: a feature blurb on the same page says 20+ and 10+)1
- Unlimited team members and unlimited projects on one subscription1
- CSV export and API access, plus a 7-day free trial1
- Free tools anyone can use, including the Reddit Threads Finder and an AI crawlability checker3
Where it falls short
- It measures. Nothing on the plan writes or posts a comment, and the Threads Finder leaves each thread to you2
- Every keyword updates in the dashboard "at least once per week", not daily1
- The $79 price is marked "Limited time only"1
- Going past the plan's keywords means an upgrade, with no price on the page1
- The free account's limits aren't listed on the pricing page1
What to do with a thread LLMrefs finds
The finder hands you a list. This is the work behind each line of it.
Check it's open and still needs an answer
The finder looks for unlocked posts. Read the replies first: if the question already has a great answer, add something new or move on.
Read the sidebar
Every subreddit sets its own rules on brand mentions and links, and some ban them outright. AutoMod doesn't care that your product is good.
Answer the question first
Give the person asking something useful before any product name: what to look for, what to avoid, what fits their budget.
Mention your product once
Next to an alternative or two, with no link unless someone asks. LLMrefs' own advice on the finder page is the same: add value upfront, mention the brand at the end.2
Come back later
Check the comment is still up, and answer anyone who replied.
Side sleeper, lower back pain most mornings. Budget around $1,000. What should I look at?
Medium-firm helped most people in this sub. Snoozly and CloudNest both have long trials, so test before you commit.
- Answers the question first
- Names two options
- No link
That's five steps, per thread, every week. SlopMog drafts the comment for every thread it finds, posts the ones you approve on a staggered schedule, and covers step 5 with health checks.

What SlopMog adds after the dashboard
The writing, the posting, and a fresh list of threads every week.
It writes the comment and posts it
LLMrefs' citation view and its Threads Finder tell you where to show up, and then the tab is yours. SlopMog drafts a comment for every thread it finds, in the thread's tone and one of 5 voices (or Auto). Edit it, regenerate it, approve it or skip it, or switch a site to hands-free. Approved comments go out on a staggered schedule from aged Reddit accounts.
- 5 voices plus Auto, matched to each thread
- Edit, regenerate with another voice, approve or skip
- Hands-free daily posting within a per-platform budget
- Credits are spent only when a comment posts
It picks threads by asking AI models what they cite
The Threads Finder starts from a keyword. High-Value discovery starts from the answers: it writes 40 buyer-style questions without your brand name, asks each one to Gemini, Claude, GPT and Grok with live web search, and collects, checks and ranks every Reddit and YouTube thread they cite. LLMrefs' paid citation tracking lists cited URLs too. The difference is what happens next. Here, the top threads get a drafted comment.
- 40 buyer questions by default, no brand names
- API models with live web search, not the consumer apps
- Cited Reddit and YouTube threads checked and ranked
- Runs weekly, when you add a site, or on demand
It asks again every week, because citations move
A list of cited threads goes stale fast. Ahrefs tracked about 37,500 citations across five AI tools for 20 days: 50 to 83% were gone the next day, and about 75% of those came back within the 20 days4. Months move it too: about 1 in 5 US ChatGPT answers cited Reddit in March 2026, and about 1 in 43 by late September5. LLMrefs smooths the churn by aggregating across prompts. SlopMog keeps up with it by finding new threads every week.
- High-Value discovery re-runs weekly
- Keyword discovery on Reddit and YouTube every day
- Run it on demand when something launches
- Health checks show which comments are still live
Let's talk money
LLMrefs doesn't price per comment, because it doesn't post any. So here's what it costs, and what both cost together.
- All in One$79/mo1
- 500 tracked prompts: mentions, sources, fan-out queries
- All 11 engines, no extra fees
- Weekly AI visibility reports
- 50+ countries, 20+ languages
- Unlimited seats and projects
- CSV export and API access
- 7-day free trial, price marked "Limited time only"
- Free tools$03
- Reddit Threads Finder: a keyword in, threads to join out
- AI crawlability checker and LLMs.txt generator
- Query fan-out generator and a ChatGPT prompts database
- Free sign-up with no card (limits not listed)
One plan, billed monthly. More keywords means an upgrade, with no price on the page1. Running both on the entry plans: $79 + $99 = $178 a month.

No tool fits everyone. Here's who should use which.

Running LLMrefs and SlopMog together
There's nothing to migrate, and you don't have to pick one. This is the loop.
Measure in LLMrefs
Keep your keywords there. Note the questions you're missing from, and which threads and pages the answers cite.
Move in SlopMog
Add your site. SlopMog reads it, pulls out keyword groups, finds threads daily and runs High-Value discovery. Approve the drafts you like, or go hands-free.
Check both
Health checks show which comments are still live. LLMrefs' weekly report shows whether the answers moved. Read the trend, not one check: at least half of AI citations change from one day to the next4.
